This book packed a punch, it was not at all what I was expecting when I picked it up, but plot twists and turns that kept me gripped to the very end.

Characters: Well how do you talk about characters that are a combination of characters wrapped into one? Jason is unique as he is a vessel for other souls, they communicate to him, and through him. Can a soul that communicates through another person be considered a character on their own? Well for the sake of a full review, lets say Yes. So this book contains several different characters. Erin being one of my favorites as she really does most of the prodding in Jason's mind and connections with other souls. Jason is also a favorite, and also being the main character is a likely choice as well. His abilities are so original and unique that his development through the story is admirable.
Story: Jason is an 18 year old police officer. He is not a stranger to loss of family and loved ones. He finds himself in the center of a battle between the Oldsouls and the Anthanatos. He is not a stranger to physical fighting styles and the use of several large weapons as well. There are a lot of people/souls that depend on him to fight and do the right thing.

Originality: 100% original. I have never read a story that had such a variety of different aspects to it. With the combination of a fighting police officer, young main character. With a supernatural aspect of being an Oldsoul and a vessel that can communicate with other souls in his head. There is a lot of traveling and huge fight scenes that are dramatic and expansive as a mission impossible movie.

Writing: Good writing that keeps the pace along with keeping up with the unraveling of the plot with twists and a variety of characters that bring in a little charm. There is interesting Persian myths and the development of the oldsoul story that is intriguing and really fits the story well.

When you read a lot, it's nice to mix things up. For me having a male main character, and a story that was focused on family and friends. Not to mention the lack of the love triangle and girls in dresses that seem to have overtaken our reading shelves these days. On the other hand I have to admit when the big action scenes happened and such detail was put on the size, model and type of weapons used. I was unable to picture anything more that “missile” as “big weapon” and “gun” as “hand held weapon” Yes, I'm a girl, and a girl that never has paid much detail to weapons and makes and models. But nevertheless was able to enjoy the ride and the supernatural twist kept me hooked.
